Western following the aftermath of the defeat of the US Army's Seventh Cavalry Regiment by the Native Americans at Little Big Horn. Captain Benson (Randolph Scott), who was reportedly AWOL during the battle, offers to carry out the perilous mission of bringing back the bodies of the deceased fighters from the Indian land.
