ER Resident Hugo Razo is at the bedside of a patient with a horrifying story of being followed into his home and attacked by a group of armed men. The man holds back tears recounting staring at the barrel of a gun while trying to protect his girlfriend. “You’re a hero,” Razo tells him as he assesses the injuries sustained during the beating. He has an obvious wound to the back of the head, but trauma surgeon Adam Fox must run a CT scan to check for any internal injuries. One thing is certain, whatever the outcome, this patient is lucky to have survived such a terrifying assault. Meanwhile, at New York Presbyterian, Nurse Diana Costine sees a middle-aged man complaining of sharp chest pain and tingling and numbness in his legs. She shares a few jokes with the upbeat patient as she performs an examination of his extremities and runs further tests.
