After the instant cult classic Withnail & I, writer-director Bruce Robinson switches tack with this brooding psychological thriller. A serial killer who preys on blind women has killed Uma Thurman's best friend and now he appears to be coming for her. Andy Garcia is the big-city detective assigned to the case, but a blossoming romance between the pair serves only to complicate an already twisted case - much to the annoyance of FBI man John Malkovich. Stylish and absorbing, with a convincingly vulnerable performance from Thurman as the killer's sightless target.
