Aspiring young author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) is tempted away from her American home by enigmatic English aristocrat Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) who takes his new bride to his forbidding Cumbrian estate, locally known as Crimson Peak. As well as the disturbing eccentricities of the house, Edith also has to endure the hostility of sister-in-law Lady Lucille (Jessica Chastain). But she's unaware of her greatest threat.
