This three-part film tells the story of the campaigners whose endeavours made it possible. The film mixes documentary narrative with epic dramatized reconstruction to bring to life the intertwined stories of Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, Angelina Grimké, Harriet Beecher Stowe and John Brown, five people from very different backgrounds united in a common cause.
