Picking up eight months after the bloody events of Season 3, the fourth season returns to Atlantic City in February 1924--the year jazz 'really came into being,' with fictional dancers/singers as well as the ubiquitous Charleston dance.

In February 1924, Nucky makes peace with Masseria and Rothstein, while a new prohibition agent arrives in Atlantic City.
Harlem gangster Dr Valentin Narcisse arrives in Atlantic City and clashes with Chalky and Nucky. Meanwhile, a business opportunity arises in Florida.
Nucky is in Florida on business, but has reservations about investing in a Tampa land deal engineered by transplanted bootlegger Bill McCoy.
Arnold Rothstein agrees to bankroll Nucky's Tampa investment, but first demands that they get the measure of each other over a game of poker.
Nucky deals with the fallout from Willie's liquor fiasco in Philadelphia, Eddie Kessler is detained by Agent Knox and the Capones recruit Van Alden.
Nucky considers new partners in Tampa before reconnecting with Sally Wheet. Elsewhere, Knox looks to gain Eli's trust and Harrow returns from exile.
Eli's son William asks Nucky for a job, Al Capone sets out to avenge the murder of his brother and Margaret has a surprise encounter in New York.
Agent Knox hits a critical turning point in his investigation into Nucky, while Chalky declares war on Dr Narcisse.
Chalky White asks Nucky for permission to take out Valentin Narcisse. In Chicago, the Capone brothers recruit Van Alden.
Things are heating up in Atlantic City for Nucky as Dr Valentin Narcisse makes a major power play to push Chalky White out of town.
Chalky and Daughter Maitland go on the run from Narcisse, while Eli comes under pressure from Agent Knox to provide information on Nucky's operations.
The series four finale brings the long-simmering tensions between Narcisse and Chalky, Gillian and Richard, and Nucky and Eli to a head.
