The film follows the Texas Elag on a spectacular campaign across Europe where they participate in a series of massive scale Viking re - enactments with hundreds of live - steel fighters. In "To Go Viking" filmmaker Matt Poitras documents the adventures of the Texas Jomsborg - a Viking re - enactment group, over an entire year. In Poland they engaged in a full contact fighting event at the 17th International Slavs and Vikings Festival at Wolin, a location which is speculated to be the actual historic birth place of the 10th Century Jomsborg Army.
