Paul Newman finally racked up an Oscar as 'Fast' Eddie Felson, the wily old pool shark who take a protege - Tom Cruise's young showboat Vincent - in Martin Scorsese's cool sequel to 1961 classic The Hustler. Alas, a relationship that began so promisingly threatens to turn sour when Vincent's exhibitionism starts costing money and Eddie severs the relationship. Scorsese keeps the dramatic ball rolling 25 years after the original, while Newman returns to his role with Best Actor-worthy aplomb.
