The fresh, funny, touching and true story of writer Beverly Donofrio stars Drew Barrymore, who ages from 15 to 35 in the role. It's 1965, and Bev is a bright Connecticut girl who dreams of moving to New York City to become a writer. But her life takes a turn when a fling with a not-too-bright dropout produces a baby and a husband (Steve Zahn). Six years down the road, she is a single mother with no career prospects. After years of perseverance, she realises that she and her son, separated in age by only 15 years, have grown up together, and that the 'obstacles' of child rearing have defined her life. The story goes back and forth in time as it poignantly reveals this unlikely heroine's often humorous, occasionally irreverent, and always unique personal journey to make something of herself.
