Starring Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon, John Hannah and Back to the Future's Lea Thompson, Ping Pong Summer is a coming of age comedy crowd pleaser selected for Sundance, SXSW and the BFI London Film Festival. The year is 1985. Rad Miracle is a shy 13-year-old obsessed with two things: ping pong and hip hop. During his family's annual summer vacation to Ocean City, Maryland, Rad makes a new best friend, experiences his first real crush, becomes the target of local bullies, and finds an unexpected mentor in his reclusive next-door neighbour a former Ping Pong champion Randi Jammer (Susan Sarandon). Together they find the winning formula that will give Rad the tools to defeat the bullies and ultimately the confidence to win over the affections of his dream girl. Summer vacation, rap music, parachute pants, rich bullies, young love, eccentric mentors... Put these together and you get the Karate Kid of Ping Pong.
