Meet John Doe (1948) A reporter (Barbara Stanwyck) writes a column about "John Doe", an unexciting man who plans to kill himself in a protest against America's neglect of the little people. The newspaper then hires Gary Cooper to pose as this fictional John Doe. Doe captures the public's imagination in a series of radio addresses. When he realises he has been used, Doe becomes the man he never knew he could be.
