A decommissioned Johannesburg police droid is destined for the scrapheap... until it falls into the hands of a pair of street crooks (South African rap duo Die Antwoord). They've got plans to use their new toy - christened 'Chappie' - for a heist, but need the robot's inventor Deon (Dev Patel) to re-program his crimefighting creation. However, Deon has his own agenda - to make the droid the first machine with its own conscience. District 9 director Neill Blomkamp delivers another barrage of grungily futuristic thrills and spills.
